Quit smoking and start vaping

Vaping is a highly effective method for quitting smoking - and potentially 95% safer!

It’s early January and no doubt a lot of people will have made a resolution to stop smoking.  And so they should considering that smoking is one of the most deadly “pastimes” that anyone can take up, one that is responsible for 100,000's of deaths around the world annually.  A very scary statistic is that Tobacco, when used the way it’s intended, is the only legally available product in the world that kills one in every two users.

Over the years a number of different smoking cessation techniques have been tried, developed and sold.  Most common being “going cold Turkey”, which is rarely effective, both in the short and long term.  Another is via nicotine patches and gum, as well as products prescribed by doctors.  More effective than going cold turkey but again, has a high failure rate – especially in regards to smokers returning the fags after a few months.

One of the most effective methods for quitting smoking is a relatively new phenomenon – the use of e-cigarettes or electronic vaping devices.  These allow the smoker to remove tobacco completely from their lives almost immediately.  E-Liquid, used in vaping devices, contains varying strengths of nicotine, satisfying the cravings any ex-smoker may have while have reducing the harm done by over 95%.  Nicotine is the addictive component in cigarettes and by vaping you eliminate more than 7,000 chemicals found within them – 250 of which are known to be extremely dangerous.

Most ex-smokers will start with high nicotine strength liquid to satisfy their cravings which can be reduced over time.  Regular vapers, for the most part, eventually wean themselves down to between 3 and 6mg of nicotine – which is far from dangerous.

Of course, anything you inhale into your lungs is going to have some sort of effect on your body and nobody is saying that vaping is completely harmless.  There are, as of yet, no long term studies on the effects of vaping and research is on-going.  But the absolute fact at the moment - which has been proved – is that vaping is 95% less dangerous than smoking.  So if you can get everything you want from your cigarettes in a strawberry flavoured liquid, that doesn’t make your clothes and home stink, while absolutely lengthening your lifespan – then why wouldn’t you vape?  It’s a no brainer!

In the UK, Public Health England recently issued a report recommending that smokers switch to vaping – and the NHS actively supports this stance.  A study being conducted at Sheffield Hallam University – with funding from Heart Research UK – monitors participant’s attempts to quit over a 6 month period.  The study is on-going but so far shows that people who use e-cigarettes are more likely to be successful in their attempt to quit smoking.

If you’re New Year’s resolution was to quit smoking – at the moment, there really isn’t a better method than vaping.  There are many different devices and methods, from tiny pod systems to large sub-ohm cloud machines – complimented by 100’s of flavoured e-liquids at varying nicotine strengths.  Put down the cigs and take up vaping – you could potentially be saving your life!
